The Role of Endownment to the Arts
An endowment is a fund of money, the principal of which is held in perpetuity and invested and from which an organization may use only the return on investment. Through a permanent, continuous development effort to build endowment, the Arts are assured stability and security - Forever.
Thus, endowment building is a cornerstone assuring a solid foundation for the future of the Arts in York County. Endowment enables our Arts organizations to create a vision for the future driven by community needs and interests versus financial ability.
Giving to endowment may take many forms such as bequests or legacies, gifts of appreciated securities, real estate, retirement funds, insurance policies, and other tangible personal property.
