NONPROFIT STRATEGIC ALLIANCES GRANTS

Beginning in 2010, York County Community Foundation will focus on strategic alliances between nonprofit organizations, particularly focusing on mergers, encouraging efficiency and effectiveness. Other areas of opportunity include collaborative efforts, such as back-office mergers supporting, one or more nonprofit organizations. Grant awards will be considered for nonprofits covering all interest areas, including arts and culture, civic affairs, community/economic development, education, the elderly, youth, health and human services, and the environment.

Nonprofit Strategic Alliances Grants have no application deadline. Nonprofit organizations that are considering an alliance should have a conversation with the Community Foundation’s Vice President of Community Investment BEFORE submitting a proposal.

After positive preliminary discussion, the Vice President will encourage organizations to submit an initial concept paper that will be considered by the Community Foundation’s Distribution Committee. Once the concept papers are approved, the Community Foundation will extend an invitation for an interview to the Chief Executives and Board Chairs of the nonprofits considering a strategic alliance.

After evaluating anticipated results and success of a potential strategic alliance, the Community Foundation will invite interviewed nonprofits to submit a full application for final consideration of funding. Nonprofit Strategic Alliances Grants will support appropriate consulting, legal, organizational development, and/or capital/technology needs surrounding the nonprofit alliance.
